Canine Companions Training
and Awards is a new venture which
will be presented in Spring 2012. A lot of work has already been done on this scheme and the work continues!
The aim of the scheme is to develop a special relationship between
dog and handler so they can experience the magic of working together as a team. This will include elements of "Obedience"
where dog learns to walk beside you, sit, wait and come when called but it will include much much more. Dogs will go over
obstacles, retrieve objects, learn tricks and of course jump through hoops! These additional elements are drawn from: Agility,
Assistance dog training, Canine freestyle, Flyball, Rally O' etc.
Training will be at 4 levels: Foundation and levels 1,2 & 3. Awards in the form of rosettes and certificates
will be presented as each level is successfully completed and will be one, two or three star awards. Handlers will
be able to be re-assessed if they wish to gain a higher rating.
So, if you only want your dog to walk by your side, sit when told and come when called this is possibly not
for you. If you would like to go beyond that and experience the magic of working together whilst having fun with a wide range
of activities, watch this space.
K9C updates will appear on this site though later will be found on www.k9c.co.uk
